Job Description

Job Responsibilities
The temporary staff is expected to conduct two-way checks, checks of transcribed proofs, checks of Legislative History, and other ad hoc tasks.

The responsibilities for two-way checks include:
1. Check that the proof is exactly the same as the original hard copy of the legislation. If not, highlight the differences.
2. Confirm the settings, spacing, fonts and style on each page comply with the Legislation House Style.
3. Check that all amendments made to the identified legislation that are currently in force and ensure amendment references are accurately reflected.
4. Flag all spelling, grammatical, or typographical errors spotted.
5. Highlight the need for a second 2-way check for heavily amended legislation.
6. Mark up the proofs according to a checklist provided.
7. Prepare the list of cross-references.

The responsibilities for checks of transcribed proofs include:
i. Check that all UR2020 amendments have been taken in accurately.
ii. Check that all in force amendments have been taken in accurately.
iii. Ensure that no errors have been introduced in the process of transferring the amendments.
iv. Confirm the settings, spacing, fonts and style on each page comply with the Legislation House Style.
v. Flag all spelling, grammatical, or typographical errors spotted.
vi. Mark up the proofs according to a checklist provided.
vii. Scan proofs and email correspondences.
viii. File proofs and email correspondences.
ix. Arrange files in alphabetical order.

The responsibilities for checks and verification of LH include:
i. Check that the format for LH has been applied correctly.
ii. Conduct additional research as necessary.
iii. Check that the all amendments have been taken in accurately.
iv. Ensure that no errors have been introduced I the process of transferring the amendments.

In addition, the temporary staff may need to:
• Provide ad hoc support to the team as and when necessary (e.g., conduct research or other ad hoc checks).
• Proofread the proofs (for diploma holders and only if found to be suitable for this task).

Contract: 12 months 
Working Days: 5-day work week
Salary: $8-$11/hr (subjected to qualification and experience)
