Position : Transition Aide (Learning & Behavioural Support)
Contract period : 1 Aug – 31 Mar 22 (7 months) – Service of the personnel is not required during December school holidays.
Working hours : Mon – Fri ; 8am – 5pm inclusive of half hour lunch break
The key roles and responsibilities of personnel engaged are as follows:
a. Implement individual Transition Support Plans, including classroom support strategies, behaviour intervention plans;
b. Observe and gather information to track and monitor individual student progress;
c. Support AED(LBS) and class teachers to develop customised resources for the individual student where needed; and,
d. Provide regular updates to school personnel on student's progress to support the school's engagement of parents and caregivers
Suitable candidates should possess the following attributes:
a. an interest in education and in supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) – as they will need to be able to relate to and support students with significant behavioural and/or social difficulties in a mainstream school setting;
b. good communication and interpersonal skills – as personnel will be required to collaborate with different stakeholders (e.g. school leaders, AED(LBS), class teachers, and other professionals) in support of the student;
c. conscientiousness and good organisational skills – as personnel will be required to observe and track information on student progress;
d. adaptability and willingness to learn – as personnel will be required to pick up skills on-the-job under guidance of the AED(LBS) and other school personnel; and,
e. patience and resilience – as personnel will need to maintain a positive outlook even when observable progress may not be immediate, and remain calm and patient when encountering challenging behaviours.
Candidates should preferably have the following criteria:
a. Obtain GCE “O” or “N” levels with a compulsory credit in English, NITEC qualification or equivalent;
b. Able to commit to the specified contract period.
c. Prior experience in attending to Special Needs Students or any other relevant qualifications or experiences in fields relating to special needs is preferred.
