Job Description

Keeps all lobbies and public facilities (such as lobby, restrooms, function rooms, restaurants, etc…) in a neat and clean condition.


Public area cleaners promote a positive image of the property to guests and must be pleasant, honest and friendly.


 Public area cleaners are required to undertake the following duties as directed by the Supervisor, using the prescribed methods and frequencies in line with the requirements of the cleaning specification.



Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Cleans public areas including hallways, restaurants, locker rooms, swimming pool surroundings and restrooms.
  2. Cleans and maintains restaurants and function rooms.
  3. Sweeps floors with brushes, brooms or dust control mops.
  4. Mops floors with wet or damp mops.
  5. Cleans rugs, carpets and upholstered furniture using a vacuum cleaner, broom and carpet machine.
  6. Keeps the hotel free from trash.
  7. Empties ashtrays and urns.
  8. Washes walls and ceilings, moves and arranges furniture.
  9. Sweeps, mops, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors.
  10. Dusts and polishes metal work.
  11. Polishes furniture and fixtures.
  12. Vacuums and polishes elevators.
  13. Dusts, damp wipes, washes or polishes furniture,ledges, window sills, external surfaces of cupboards, radiators, shelves and fittings.
  14. Replenishes consumable items (soap, toilet rolls, paper towels) accordingly.
  15. Cleans toilets, urinals, hand basins, sinks, baths, showers and drinking fountains.
  16. Maintains janitorial carts.
  17. Removes & disposes of trash.
  18. Responsible for upkeep of all the equipment which he is using i.e., Vacuum cleaner, trolleys, Scrubbing machine, etc
  19. Responsible for maintaining a time schedule for cleaning of their areas.
  20. Responsible for spring cleaning of their areas as per the schedule given to them.
  21. Authorised to enter into offices for cleaning purposes.

To carry out any other reasonable duties within the overall function of the job.


Job Requirements

Previous cleaning-related experience desired.
